About Mindi
Like Pastor John, I am a true Texan. I grew up in a small
town called Winters, then moved to the big city of Austin where I attended
the University of Texas. Hook 'em Horns! There, I received a Bachelor of
Science in Child Development & Family Relations. Two days after my college
graduation, my husband's business brought us to the Golden State. What a
shock for such a small town girl!
My first job in the field was at Kaiser
Permanente, where I practiced as a Child Life Specialist in the Pediatric
Department. I provided education and counseling for children and their
families related to their illness. The rewards were endless, as were the
tugs on the heart. Concurrently, I worked as the Coordinator for Alvarado
Hospital's Auxiliary.
I assisted clients, young and old, providing them with volunteer and
educational experience in health care. Most recently, I served as a
substitute teacher for the Escondido Unified School District with an
emphasis in Special Education.
Throughout my career path, I have witnessed the impact of youth. I love
their ambition, their creative energy and above all, their fearlessness.
What is it about our adulthood that makes us loose that edge? Oh yeah, the
bills. However, no matter how many responsibilities we have as adults, we
must make God's mission our priority by placing our youth on a path with
Christ.
I am excited to be a driving force behind that mission as your Director
of Youth Ministries at First Congregational Church of Escondido. My husband,
James, and I made this church our home over a year ago. We cherish the sense
of family and community we have received while growing in faith and love. We
invite all youth to come join our church family as we experience God's grace
and build a strong foundation for the future. For we can do all things
through Him, Christ, our Lord.
